The Tribeca Greenmarket provides farm fresh local foods to Tribeca’s movers, shakers, loft dwellers and youngsters.   Neighbors come to meet and greet the folks behind their food, like Alex Villani of Blue Moon Fish, who greets regulars with “the freshest fish in New York City,” according to the New York Times, and Pam Clarke Torres, an 8th generation farmer from Prospect Hill Orchards.  It’s all truly local – from market classics like crisp greens and vegetables, orchard fruit and berries, certified organic offerings, dozens of herbs, live plants, and cut flowers – to special finds like farmstead sheep’s milk cheese, turkey sausage, and the best jelly doughnuts in the tri-state area.  Cooking demonstrations, raffles, and educational activities make the market a hands-on experience for all ages.

Manager

As a young’n, Avery Miller spent summers weeding and harvesting veggies at the Food Bank Farm near her house. She stood out early on as a food enthusiast when she was inspired to write her college admission essay about heirloom tomatoes. She recently left behind her former jobs, composting human excrement and cooking for hikers in New Hampshire's White Mountains to move to New York, only to be doored while cycling in the busy city streets. This, along with her experience of skinning a lamb, gives her incredible street ‘cred in the farmer’s market world.
