PS 4 Paradise Garden

PS 4 Paradise Garden

Gladys Gonzales and Mary Sciales founded Paradise Garden in 1982. Mary took care of the garden for 26 years until she passed away in May of 2008. Her life’s effort help turn an abandoned lot into a haven for children. The stage and fish pond support a creative educational environment. The youth program consists of over 300 children, each class getting their own plot in the garden. The 500 gallon tank collects from the 1100 square foot roof of Gladys’ house. The 0.3 acre garden is now run by Paul Vitale (on left) and Harry Peterson (on right), two teachers of PS 4 at PS 843. The creative giraffe design on the tank was designed and created by the kids of the school with the Green Guerillas.
