Pleasant Park

Pleasant Park

This 1100 gallon tank collects from a 2000 square foot roof of an adjacent house. As a beautification method, the barrel is covered in netting so that emerging grape vines can cover the tank’s surface area. This system is special because its roof washer drains into the overflow pipe, which leads into an area in the back of the garden. The 2000 pounds of produce that this small garden produces every year are given to the impoverished families in East Harlem. Hannah Riseley-White, program director of the Green Guerillas works with the neighborhood women to help maintain the garden.
