As a means to decrease some of the 12,000 tons of waste discarded every day by NYC residents, the Council on the Environment of NYC’s (CENYC) Office of Recycling Outreach and Education (OROE) and Build It Green!NYC (BIG!NYC) will be co-hosting a free swap event on Saturday, May 10th. The public is invited to 3-17 26th Ave., between 3rd and 4th Streets in Astoria, from 11 AM – 4 PM, to drop off or take home any reusable working item that can easily be carried or carted away. Any item brought to Stop ‘N Swap is free on a first-come first-served basis.
In addition, OROE will be providing free instruction and information on proper recycling practices in NYC, while BIG!NYC’s building reuse warehouse on 26th Ave. will be open to the public for regular business.
