Union Square Energy Fair

On Wednesday, May 26, more than 25 middle and high school students set up shop at our bustling Union Square Greenmarket to demonstrate the potential of renewable energy. They lead cooking demos using the sun's rays to heat up grilled cheese sandwiches in thier pizza-box solar ovens (which heated up to above 200 degrees) and talked to visitors about green home designs and sustainable streetscape models they crafted. Guest judge Ante Vulin of Association for Energy Affordability rated projects on construction quality, design features, and functionality. The event was sponsored by Con Edison.
