The Brooklyn Borough Hall Greenmarket is celebrating its 25th year of bringing fresh, local produce to this thriving downtown location three days a week. Located on Camden Plaza, lined with trees and park benches, this market serves not only the Brooklyn Heights, Clinton Hill, and Downtown Brooklyn communities, but also downtown Brooklyn workers and commuters. Some of Greenmarket’s long-time producers, Wilklow Orchards and Phillips Farms, are on hand to provide a bounty of fresh picked fruits and vegetables, beautiful plants and flowers, and grass-fed meat. Also available are fresh fish and amazing eggs. New this year are organic vegetables, chicken and eggs from Fishkill Farms.

Manager

David Sherman was exposed to farm work and the need for a more sustainable food system at Quail Hill Farm in Montauk. Since then he has received an organic farming certificate while working for a women's farm coop in Costa Rica, lived in South India, and spent two seasons as assistant farm manager, raising veggies, running a CSA and farm workshops for Somalian refugees at an urban community farm in Denver. Despite his bounty of fresh veggies, David couldn't find a decent slice, knish, or bagel so he headed back East. When David is not presiding over the BKBH Greenmarket he keeps busy cooking, making music, and DJing.
