This market recently moved out of a school yard onto beautiful, tree-lined Columbus Avenue, which has enabled us to dramatically expand our offerings, keep the market open longer and welcome more people. The neighborhood is thrilled to now have an even bigger market where they can do all their weekly shopping. Thanks to our new location, new producers this year include Grazin Angus Acres grass-fed meats, Milk Thistle organic milk, Seatuck Fish, Valley Shepherd, and Knoll Krest. Regulars Emmerich, Pet-Al flowers and Trumansburg Tree transform the market into a bountiful garden every week. Treelicious and Terhune orchards provide apples, cider and farm baked goods all year round and a selection of other fruits when they are in season. D+J organics supplies the market with organic greens and Asian specialty products all year round. From May – November, Kernan and Berried Treasures have foraged greens, seasonal fruits and potatoes. Berkshire berries provide NYC roof-top honey, a variety of jams and jellies and maple syrup.

Chris Wayne is one of four siblings, which is apparent in the speed and manner that he hoards, prepares, and consumes food. His mother is a modest, graceful at-home chef who artfully compliments her husband, Chris’s father - a brash, tireless Connecticut-based horticulturalist. After spending fifteen months living in a tin-roof shanty in the mountains of central Costa Rica, Chris has returned relaxed and rejuvenated, ready to cast his newly acquired knowledge and enthusiasm into the great crystal chasm that is Greenmarket.
